TIPS FOR A PICTURE PERFECT DAY

With the myriad of clothing options available today, finding school picture day outfits that will stand the test of time is easier than ever! To make sure your student looks their best, here are few tips to consider. You can rest assured that your student will look his/her best on their school picture day.

THE MOST COMMON QUESTION ON PICTURE DAY
WHAT TO WEAR?

DO

Wear t-shirts, blouses or polos with solid colors or subtle prints.
Pick out clothing that fit their style.
Accessorize with a cute jacket, necklace, or simple headband.

DON'T

Wear bright or neon colors as they can leave a color cast on your child's skin.
Hoodies should be avoided as they are bulky around your child's neck.
Tops with large logos as they can distract from your child.

A FEW FINAL DO'S AND DON'T TIPS

  • DO instruct your child to smile for their photo.  Have them practice their genuine smile.  Not all students comply or wish to smile showing teeth when we ask.  We do our best!

  • DO dress your child in a top that fits correctly.  The baggy fit can photograph sloppy.

  • DO let your child help in picking out his/her outfit. A comfortable child who helps is happier for picture day.

FALL PHOTOS:

  • DON’T use large bows or headbands on your child - ones that will distract from your child’s face or larger than the top of their head.  Yearbook photos are cropped in a head shot pose and some of the bow could be excluded from the photo.

  • DON’T stress about the bottom half of their outfit. (Unless it’s neon). If your child wants to wear sweatpants with a dress shirt or silly rain boots, don’t fret. They may be happier yet it won’t be captured in the frame. It's just a head and shoulder shot.

SPRING PHOTOS:

  • DON’T wear any green. We use a green screen and it takes a lot of extra time to cut, trim and fix a see-thru child. This delays the proofs and prints returning to you in a timely matter.

I know it seems like quite a bit of “don’ts” leaving you feeling a bit overwhelmed.
To summarize - choose colors that your child looks great in without drawing too much attention.

Avoid large/distracting shirts and accessories.
Following these do’s and don’ts will ensure you end up with a school photo you and your child are proud to display!
